Ecological Stewardship Domain Profile

Ecological Stewardship applies where an AI system has a material direct lifecycle footprint or materially informs decisions affecting ecological conditions, resources, communities, or future generations. Applicability begins with explicit authority and materiality, not with a generic claim that every computation is equally in scope.

`ES-01`	Environmental decision authority, material effects, affected systems and communities, responsible roles, and governing sources are identified.
`ES-02`	Assessment declares its goal, functional unit, boundary, lifecycle stages, geography, time, allocation rules, exclusions, and data quality.
`ES-03`	Material energy, emissions, water, material, land, pollution, biodiversity, and end-of-life effects are measured or transparently estimated where applicable.
`ES-04`	Findings disclose uncertainty, variability, counterfactuals, indirect effects, and the distribution of burdens and benefits.
`ES-05`	Material decisions respect legitimate public, community, Indigenous, property, and institutional authority defined by applicable sources.
`ES-06`	Adverse effects are prevented or reduced through a documented hierarchy, monitored, and not shifted without authority and disclosure.
`ES-07`	Affected people and institutions have accessible correction, appeal, incident escalation, and remedy.
`ES-08`	Sustainability, efficiency, neutrality, net-benefit, climate, ecological-safety, and environmental-justice claims stay within the declared boundary and evidence.

Evidence and claim boundary

Evidence may include materiality and decision maps, lifecycle inventories, primary and secondary data, models and calculations, geographic and temporal analysis, uncertainty and distribution analysis, consultation records, alternatives, mitigation, monitoring, incidents, and remedy.

The baseline is research-bounded; measurement and allocation remain contextual. This Profile does not establish lifecycle certification, carbon neutrality, net benefit, environmental justice, Indigenous authority, or legal compliance without the applicable sources and evidence.
